True!mprov is On the Road in February

This month, True!mprov will not be at Walnut Grove. Instead, we’ll be performing for the residents of Open House Ministries. Open House helps homeless families get back on their feet again by providing shelter, counseling, addiction recovery services, and assistance with job skills. This is the organization you help us support every month with your donations of cash and personal care items. We decided to hold our February performance there in part because many of the residents do not have transportation to our regular shows.

The week after our performance at Open House, True!mprov will be going to Dallas, Texas (yee haw!) where we have been invited to participate in IGNITION, a Christian Young Adult Leadership Summit conference. At IGNITION, we will be performing for the conference attendees as well as giving some workshops to share with others how to start an Improv team ministry. We are looking forward to seeing our regular audience at Walnut Grove for our MARCH performance. Details will be sent out ahead of time. In the meantime, if you want to contact us, get more info, or would like to join True!mprov, please e-mail us at info@trueimprov.com and we’ll be in touch with you right away!

IGNITION!

We are excited to announce that True!mprov has been invited to perform at the Youth Ministries Leadership Summit/Young Adult Summit: IGNITION.  This will be a great opportunity to for us to share our unique form of ministry with Youth and Young Adult leaders throughout North America.  The summit will be in Dallas, TX from Thursday, February 14 - Sunday, February 17, 2008.  Contact us at info@trueimprov.com for more information.

Thank you!

Thank you for coming to our first show of the season last Saturday! We had over 50 people in the audience and collected just under $100 plus personal care items for Open House Ministries.

Our next show is Saturday, November 3, same time (8pm), same place (Walnut Grove). In keeping with the season, our theme will be Abundance.  We hope to see you there!

True!mprov - Comedy with Purpose

True!mprov is a group that explores life and our relationship with God through improvisational theater.

What? you might be thinking, I thought improv was comedy! How can you have a comedy show that talks about God?   First of all, there’s nothing that says God doesn’t laugh along with us when we’re having fun.   After all, He invented humor, so I’m confident He likes a funny joke too. Second, although most people associate improv theater and comedy, it also can have a more serious note. In fact, life itself is all about improvisation. Imagine that you get a phone call from a friend - your entire conversation is formed at that moment - you didn’t rehearse what you were going to say ahead of time.

At True!mprov performances, we laugh a lot, and have some of the serious stuff too (but not too serious - it’s supposed to be fun). Our shows are usually geared around a theme - some of them have been Strength, Love, Sacrifice, and Hope - but we really don’t know what will happen until the moment, so sometimes it’s not obvious how the theme plays into the performance.
